面对当前航运市场的形势，我集团董事局主席高彦明促请船东们赶快采取行动，削减运力，以扭转市场的低迷状况。《TradeWinds》2009年1月23日对我集团这一呼吁进行了报道：
报道说，在市场红火时期迅速发展的河北远洋，近来已售出大部分于上世纪 80 年代建造的船只。不过，该公司原有的一项更新与扩大散货船规模的计划没有变，并将于今后3 年内接收16 艘好望角型船和 4 艘超巴拿马型船。
高彦明告诫其它航运公司，为了改变目前低迷的市场局面，促进航运市场的长期稳定，所有船东应树立远见和责任感。我们有必要通过上述措施来改变运力过剩的状况，使航运市场在供求平衡的基础上，得到复苏与健康发展。否则，即使世界经济复苏了，航运业的复苏仍将转瞬即逝。
